Microbat Survey
Join Dr Elizabeth Williams on a night time adventure to trap and record Bribie's microbats.
Microbats have poor vision, instead using echolocation (a form of sonar) to navigate through the landscape at night and catch their prey.
Wildlife ecologist, Dr Elizabeth Williams, provides an insight into her work studying microbats, demonstrating the use of traps and call recorders to undertake survey work.
Bring your torches as we use echolocation recorders to ‘see’ microbats calling as they fly above us.
We will also have a special research trap set up to try to capture these elusive creatures for you to view up close.
