Ancient Mariners
An overview of Bribie's threatened turtle population by locals running a monitoring program.
Join us as we uncover the secret lives of Bribie Island's own ancient mariners.
From November to April each year, critically endangered loggerhead turtles make their way from their home reefs spread across the South-west Pacific, to nest in Bribie's sand dunes.
Learn about the nature of our loggerheads, and the dedicated work of local citizen scientists who dedicate their summers to ensuring as many hatchlings as possible make it safely from nest to ocean.
